Dear Colleagues and Campus Partners,

Summer is in full swing, and campus is anything but quiet. Across campus, construction projects are making great progress as we prepare for the return of students this fall and welcome the Sundance Film Festival to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ for its debut this January. It's an exciting time, and it's rewarding to see so many projects moving forward.

As we close another fiscal year, I'd like to recognize that the campus recently completed the acquisition of 1799 Exposition Drive, which will become the new home of Transportation Services' electric bus maintenance facility. This property provides the space needed to support the university's expanding electric bus fleet while continuing to serve the maintenance needs of all campus vehicles for years to come. Investments like this strengthen our infrastructure while advancing CU ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½'s sustainability and Climate Action goals. We're proud to play a role in helping build a more resilient and sustainable campus.

I'm also excited to welcome Lainee Heston to the RES team as our summer intern. Lainee is studying Real Estate and Entrepreneurship in the Leeds School of Business and has already brought great energy and curiosity to the office. We're looking forward to working with her this summer and giving her a firsthand look at the many ways real estate supports the university's mission.

Finally, I want to thank all of our tenants and campus partners. Your collaboration, patience, and willingness to work through challenges together are what make our work successful. Whether we're planning for future growth, navigating construction impacts, or finding creative solutions to campus needs, we truly value the partnerships we've built across the university and our community.

I hope you have a chance to enjoy some of the best that a Colorado summer has to offer. Whether you're spending time in the mountains, on the trails, or simply taking a well-earned break with family and friends, I hope it's a season that leaves you recharged and ready for the busy months ahead.

My name is Lainee Heston, and I'm currently a Junior at the Leeds School of Business at CU ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ studying Real Estate and Entrepreneurship. I chose to take this internship with Real Estate Services because I’m interested in the operational, acquisitions, and brokerage side of commercial real estate, and I was excited by the opportunity to learn from a team that manages such a unique portfolio supporting the university and research community.

Through this internship, I hope to gain more hands-on experience with interacting with tenants, drafting leases, the acquisition process, operations, and property management while continuing to learn more about strategic decisions made to develop and improve the CU ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ community and the university.

Outside of work and school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, being outdoors, traveling, going to the gym, and trying new foods.

MSSC:

Construction for gender-neutral restroom renovations in the west wing is expected to start in the Fall of this year.

Electrical system modernization design is underway; the building's transformer and switchgear are going to be replaced in 2027 in preparation for converting to an all-electric HVAC system to address current inefficiencies and reduce carbon emissions.ÌýÌý

RL2:

The new large-capacity shared conference roomÌýon the 3rd floor is expected to be available for use in mid-August. This will be a 100-person shared conference space available to all east campus users.

Converting hard ceiling area lighting to LED is planned to begin in the Fall of this year.

Replacement of the air handler in the basement is expected to begin this Winter.Ìý

SPSC:

Construction of first-floor gender-neutral restrooms is near completion, and the restrooms are expected to open in August. The second-floor restrooms and the other set of first-floor restrooms are planned to be renovated this Fall/Winter.

150 Years of Transforming Lives

First open-access quantum timing testbed launches in ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½

The Colorado Quantum Incubator (COQI) is launching the nation’s first open-access, commercially available quantum timing testbed, marking a major infrastructure milestone aimed at accelerating quantum technologies from laboratory research to field-ready systems.

NASA selects LASP mission to study how Earth and space weather connect
