The Human Language Technology Graduate Certificate Program (HLT Certificate) is a Master’s-level certificate administered by the Institute of Cognitive Science. It accompanies a MA or MS degree in one of the three human language technology disciplines: Computer Science;ÌýLinguistics;ÌýSpeech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.
HLT is an interdisciplinary field that provides a rich and broad background for students interested in computational tools for human language processing. It includes the key technological and scientific areas of:
The Certificate in Culture, Language, and Social Practice is offered by the CU CLASP Program, which provides an interdisciplinary forum on language and society for CU students and faculty. The certificate is available to both MA and PhD students interested in sociocultural analysis of language from varied analytic traditions in the social sciences and linguistics.
The Certificate in Cognitive Science is administered by the Institute of Cognitive Science. It provides graduate students from a variety of departments and programs with an interdisciplinary background in Cognitive Science. Students complete a minimum of 11 credits, including required courses and elective options.Ìý
The Graduate Certificate in Native American and Indigenous Studies is offered through the Center for Native American and Indigenous Studies (CNAIS). It is designed for all students interested in issues related to Indigenous communities and sovereignty.ÌýStudents take a total of 12 credits to complete the certificate, including a required course and elective options from diverse course offerings on Indigenous topics at CU ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½.
The Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a 15 credit post baccalaureate program offered through the Department of Linguistics. This certificate program prepares candidates to teach learners of English as an additional language, of different ages and in a variety of contexts in the U.S. and/or abroad, including community-based programs, private language institutes, intensive English programs, and after school programs.
